Why motor starting loads matter
Direct-on-line motors (pumps, compressors, AC units) draw up to three times their running current at start. A generator sized on running load alone may fail to start your largest motor. The Detailed mode therefore sizes for the worst case: all loads running, largest motor starting last.

What’s the difference between kW and kVA?
kW is real consumed power; kVA is apparent power, which generators are rated in. They’re linked by power factor (typically 0.8) — a 100 kVA genset delivers roughly 80 kW.
Prime vs Standby rating?
Prime is for continuous operation as a main source; Standby is for emergency backup during outages, allowing slightly higher output for limited hours.
Is the result final?
It’s an accurate indicative result for most cases. Final sizing — especially for industrial sites — requires a technical site assessment, which MPOM provides across the Eastern Province.
